Coach's Blog- February

Greetings Hornet Nation, I want to let you know that our team is back at school and has resumed practices in preparation for an exciting spring 2020 season that promises to be fun and shake some things up in the Pacific Central Conference for conference supremacy this year. Our opening spring and conference series vs. San Jose State was forfeited by the Spartans so we start our conference play with a 3-0 record. Our February slate of games includes another conference series match up vs. UC Santa Cruz before we close out the month on the road at San Diego State from the Pacific South Conference. The Aztecs won their conference and made it to the College World Series in Georgia in 2018. Our Southern California road trip concludes with a game vs USC Trojans who are the defending Pacific Southern Conference champions. We are hoping to establish a good friendly rivalry between us and a few of our Pacific South opponents so stay tuned for more of those kind of match ups in seasons to come.

Recruiting has been going well and we are excited to have our prospects and recruits come watch us play this spring on our road to a conference championship, and see what Sacramento State Softball Club is about. Because we are “club”, we get negatively recruited against but we will let our program success fix that and not worry what the haters will say about us. There are many talented softball players out there who are interested in our program, we know all great players want to compete for championships with other great players, and we aim to keep adding great young talent to our roster in what we know is a perennial national powerhouse softball program in the making regardless of level or league we are slotted in. Our schedule is highly competitive against NCAA D-1 to NCSA to NAIA to 2-year programs and we will play anyone, anywhere, and at any time. This is something we want talented players to be excited about and knowing that they can come into our program and compete for championships from day one until they leave our program. Our program culture is focused on elite level softball to play for championships. We have a coaching staff with tremendous resume and experience coaching softball and we focus on player development and student success.

We want to remind our fans that we have our new Youtube channel, titled “Sac State Softball Club Media”, which we will bring you live game streams, all access of practices, game prep, press conferences, and much more. So please be sure to subscribe to follow us and catch live action of all of our games. We also have other social media platforms to follow us with.

We look forward to seeing you, hearing from you, and celebrating with us as we go through the season. #StingersUp
